Regular glass cleaner doesn't help on the mirror and I've tried just soap and water on the wood around it but it still has a dull film.

you can use white distilled vinegar and water.. mix the two together onto a washcloth and rub it over the surface. finish it with a clean wipe (just water) afterwards.
